
RULES
The Science Fair is open to all Sandshore School students in grades K-5. All students are encouraged to submit an award-winning project that follows the “scientific method” that they have completed on their own.
Project Items: Each project should include the following items:

A project display board that can stand by itself and is no larger than 36” tall x 48” wide (standard tri-fold board). The display boards can be purchased locally at Michael’s, Target, or Walmart.

Any necessary display equipment.

Student(s) prepared to give an oral presentation.

A completed summary sheet.
Student Work: The participant’s name, grade and teacher’s name are to be placed on the front of the display board

All work presented must be the student’s work

Parents can be guides. Adults can supervise the investigation, but not take part except in cases of safety.

Parents should not participate in the preparation or presentation, except to help with materias and act as an audience for practice.

HAVE FUN!!!!
Prohibited Items: Anything potentially dangerous to the participant and/or the public is prohibited.
This includes, but is not limited to the following:

No flames or combustible materials.
-
Living organisms or plants may be allowed ONLY by approval of the Science Fair Committee.

No sharp items such as needles or syringes.
-
Projects with moving parts MUST be shielded and safe to the observer and participant.

No items will be allowed that can spill or spray, or cause damage to your or another person’s project, furniture, table or room.

Foods or other materials that produce an undesirable odor or are messy in nature are not allowed.

No live or preserved animals or animal or human parts except those that are dried and in a sealed container (teeth, hair, dried animal bones, etc.)

No poisons, drugs, controlled substances, toxic or hazardous substances or devices may be used.
Experiment limitations:

No cruel or inhumane experimentation will be permitted.

Animal studies may not include harmful substances.

While you may use charts, graphs and photos, do not include pictures of surgical procedures, dissections or autopsies in your presentation. You may, however, use a notebook containing such pictures to be used only during judging.
